The irony in that first panel is immense if Toris is a continuation of Toris, and not just a new Toris created with/from some of Toris’ memories. Actually it’s ironic no matter what.
Toris is a very fun name to say, by the way.
There goes my theory that this was actually Kori’s memory, we did see an older version of him jump down here; I know he’s probably been dead for hundreds or thousands of years but this place does run on memory-physics so time might work differently. Toris certainly looks younger if he is he same demon we know outside of the well.
New reader here that just binge read both the previous comic and this one last night.
I suspect Toris was either changed into a demon through some event we haven’t seen yet, or the when the demon took Toris’ name and memories it became the person/ took on his personality/ his memories, etc.
So either Toris got a new form or the human is possessing the demon, so to speak.
I find this page poignant, along with a previous page that showed Kori snapping at Toris the demon, taking away his scroll saying, “I want something to remember my old friend by that is not this demon.” I gather this scene came just before whatever happened that made Toris the demon.
BTW anyone else wonder what being “exiled” entails?
I wonder if that is related to sending a person down the pit and getting a demon slave?
