Looks like Khojen is starting to piece together parts of the story, figure out that Toris must have been human. I can see Anya’s hesitation though. After all we aren’t sure what Khojen is planning and what will happen if she takes the stone she sought out to steal.
Not sure that when demons are created from dead humans as in chapter 2, 2016-01-13 and 2016-01-24 they are created straight from the “souls” of the dead. Perhaps some are, and some others instead steal the memories of humans when they know their names.
As to the protection stone it may be in the seat at the centre of the platform where it was in the flash backs. The same platform appears in chapter 5 2017-7-12 and it has the protection stone on it.
Apart from the nature of demons and of the “signs” and “focus stones”, the biggest mystery is in that page: “stonebreaker” once called VELANID is addressing two people who are dressed in some kind of armor and the shape and decoration of the armor is the same as the “signs” and completely different from the style of Noridi art and stuff. It looks like some other civilization built the underground chamber and bridge etc. and designed the “focus stones” before the Noridi arrived.
Another interesting detail is that in chapter 2 page 2016-01-13 the necromancer who creates daemons is holding a totem that is the same as that found by Anyalin in chapter 1 page 2014-09-10 in what she says looked like the house of a priest.
