Perhaps our author should be putting links to previous relevant pages, but here is one: the scroll author (or perhaps his descendant) is called “Antolis” in page “dreams”.
He seems to be named after Antol, the god of Korisun.
A question to the author: is the name of that priest “Kori” or “Koris”? In some page it is clearly spelt “Kori” but in others “Koris”, and the village is “Korisun”.
I a getting confused by the Toris/TORIS issue, because in some pages it is obvious that TORIS has the memories of Toris, but in others it seems Koris does not know.
TORIS has the memories of Toris:
* In page “tools” TORIS says that Toris was used as bait for things like a demon, and he says this to imply that that demon was itself.
* In page “scroll” TORIS says of that scroll “I know this scroll! Why do I *remember* it?!”, so at that point, just before meeting Koris for the first time, TORIS had the memories of Toris.
Koris seems to know that TORIS “is” Toris:
* In page “old-friend” addresses TORIS as “I’m sorry, old friend”, which would not use towards a mere demon. And we know that he is addressing TORIS, because Toris was dead at that point.
Koris does not seem to know that TORIS has the memories of Toris:
* In page “command-2” he meets TORIS for the first time and Toris has just died and he gets angry at TORIS for handling the scroll that Toris was reading in page “stories”, not recognizing him as “being” Toris.
* In page “memories-2” which seems about a point in time after that of “command-2” it seems that Koris has gotten over TORIS having the same name as his “old friend”, and tells him just “Ah. Hello TORIS” and TORIS replies “Hello Sir” as if Koris still did not know that TORIS “is” Toris.
«In page “scroll” [ … ] just before meeting Koris for the first time, TORIS had the memories of Toris.»
Ah no, when he says “I know this scroll! Why do I *remember* it?!” it is not in the past, it is in the present time. In the past, just before his first meeting with Koris, TORIS did not remember the scroll that Toris and Koris were reading in page “stories”.
But this complicates the mystery: if TORIS was the demon that was baited with Toris, how comes at that point he does not have the memories of Toris?
Also in page “memories-2” when Koris replies “It’s just too big a risk” to “But, *his* memories” that may be about Toris, because in page “existence” TORIS says of Toris “They didn’t want to lose his knowledge” and then in page “tools” TORIS says of himself “I’m just *memories*! Just… the *useful* parts of someone!”.
The “But his memories” moment, are we sure they are referring to TORIS/Toris or are we jumping to conclusions?
I was thinking more likely they may be referring to someone else?
Perhaps CANATPOIS?
Sequence wise:
We see Koris and an unknown man (Not Scribbler – Peter the author debunked that theory of them being the same man.)
They talk about someone’s memorie and the risks. Koris doesn’t want to take the risk and seems to be arguing to halt the process before it begins.
The demon that emerges from the well in the same chapter, very next flashback is CANATPOIS.(guessing by the size, that demon has been fed names before. And the look on its face is menacing.)
If you at the “Library” Page after the “Command” it is not Koris who demanded TORIS to get back to work. It is another character, an older guy. The clothing is different. We don’t know who this guy is. We know he works in the library.
It makes the “Oh Hi Toris,” less confusing. It shows Pete is aware of Toris the demon equating the memories of Toris the Human, but not being as upset about it as he was before. Maybe he’s starting towards accepting his friend’s loss, but now is concerned about the next planned demon. I suspect there is more to meet the eye about human Canatpois and that is the threat Koris is worried about.
Ah, noticed that our author has not cleared the “Kori” doubt I had, but has also in the page given a timescale: the “great-grandfather” of Kohjen’s friend was an adult during the demon rebellion. That means it occurred around 80-100 years before the arrival of Kohjen.
Also Anyalin has a grandmother, whose parents may have been adults at the time of the demon rebellion, so she may have lived briefly in Noridun and may have met or be a relative of some of the people from that time. Anyalin and Scribbler look a bit like Toris, and not at all like Koris.
He’s not Koris. The clothing and the beard is different. Koris wears a long robe and he has more hair. This man has a jacket and pants. Less hair on the top. Beard also looks lighter. Suggests he’s an older man than Koris.
looks very much like Kohjen’s friend’s Great Grandfather in the second to last panel.

His name is Koris — Kori is a nickname (even if its not too much shorter) that Toris tends to use.

A mysterious city indeed!

The plot is demonic 🙂

The reaction look on demon Toris’s face is telling that something went wrong in the process:

This suggests the “risk” was too much and the “memories” might not be used for good.

Also if you change the theory to it being CANATPOIS being talked about here: http://stonebreakercomic.com/stonebreaker/memories-2/

I meant Koris. Odd random copy and paste typo. oops.

Ooh just noticed the man who tells TORIS to get to back to work here:
